We’re a movement of parents, early educators, childcare centers, small businesses, and neighbors across Minnesota.

Our Vision

From Red Lake down to Red Wing, every family deserves free, high-quality childcare close to home, and every early educator should be paid and respected as the professionals they are.

But right now Minnesota families can't afford childcare. People are being priced out of parenthood. Childcare centers are closing all over the state. Early educators are underpaid and leaving the field. Meanwhile the ultra-rich keep getting richer.

Another way is possible…

While the federal government hands out tax breaks for billionaires, Minnesota can choose a different path. By making the wealthiest corporations and Minnesotans pay what they owe, we can build a universal childcare system that works for all of us.

Minnesota works because childcare exists. It’s time for Childcare for All.

    My husband and I are both public school teachers with master's degrees, and we have three children, including two toddlers in full-time childcare. We rely on childcare to do our jobs, but it costs our family nearly $40,000 a year for our two youngest children alone.

    Even while juggling multiple jobs beyond teaching to make ends meet, childcare and rent consume most of our income. We’re living paycheck to paycheck and rely on the food shelf just to get by.

    I used to work in construction, and I was proud to be a woman in the trades. The money was good, but I couldn’t find childcare that worked with my early morning shifts, so I had to leave for lower-paying work. Today, I piece together gig work like InstaCart and GrubHub because I need the flexibility to keep my childcare arrangements in place.

    If we want parents to participate fully in the workforce, we need affordable childcare with hours that match the realities of working people.

    We are a husband-and-wife team who opened New Day Family Childcare Center seven years ago, and we’ve been dedicated to the growth and development of the children in our care ever since.

    We’ve seen both sides of the crisis up close — how hard it is for parents to afford childcare, and how challenging it is for providers to keep the doors open. Childcare for All would help stabilize the system and make it work better for everyone.
